The media event will begin with a debate entitled Media: Part of the problem or part of the solution?  The debate will look at the ways in which gender based violence is reported in the media, how media can be used as a tool to shape public opinion and the ways in which media can help to reduce GBV.

An exciting line up of panellists and key decision makers has been invited to participate in the event; sure to be a lively and interesting start to this year’s Sixteen Days of Activism Campaign.

The media debate will be followed by a press conference at 13h00 to launch the 16 Days campaign. Representatives from the City of Johannesburg; Gauteng Progressive Women’s Movement and civil society organisations will be presenting their plans for the 16 Days campaign.  During the press conference there will be a regional cyber dialogue with eleven other countries from across the SADC region which will be taking place in English and French.

We look forward to seeing you at the media launch and at many of the other Sixteen Day events that will soon be taking place.
