The Minister of Labour Membathisi
Mdladlana's Imbizo programme takes him to the
Limpopo province for the week of July 7, 2003. The
Minister will be interacting with communities,
stakeholders and social partners in order to assess
the success of Departmental interventions at both a
policy and delivery level.
Government's Imbizo programme is
aimed at promoting increased dialogue between
government and people. At gatherings and visits
criticism, concerns and plaudits raised by the
community members will be documented and translated
into the Provincial Department's programme of
action.
"Constructive criticism will only
motivate us to spare no strength or effort in
ensuring that we give nothing but the best for our
people. This is the least we can do to show honour
and reverence to many of those who have made great
sacrifices to procure the freedom and liberation of
all South Africans," the Minister said.
The Minister will have public
discussions with the communities of Moletjie,
Tzaneen, Mahumi, and Vaalwater.
He will also visit projects such
as Moletjie Rural Women's initiative where the
Department has spent R32 000 in developing the
entrepreneurial and bookkeeping skills of the
project members, the Nandoni Dam Project, where over
R74 000 has been spent to train 120 people in
construction.
A total of over R65-million has
been spent on training 35 000 people in the Province
since 1999.
