How do I contact the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)
Who should register
- SA citizens 16 years or older (but you have to be 18 years or older to vote on election day)
- Newly naturalised citizens
- Those whose address, name or ID number has changed

Check if you are registered
How to register for the 2004 elections
- To register to vote, you must
- Be 16 years or older (to vote you have to be 18 years or older on election day)
- Have your green bar-coded ID book or Temporary Identity Certificate (TIC)
- Go to the voting station where you live or
- Go to the office of your local Municipal Electoral Officer [outside link]
- To obtain an ID book
