President Mbeki Mbeki visits US and Germany

25 - 28 June 2001

President Thabo Mbeki departs for Washington on 25 June for a two-day visit to brief US President George W. Bush on the Millennium Partnership for African Recovery Programme (MAP) and to strengthen bilateral ties. The President is also expected to meet Congressional leaders from the US Senate and House of Representatives.

He will be accompanied by among others the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alec Erwin, and the Minister of Health, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang.

On Thursday, 28 June, the President meets with President Rau of Germany and Chancellor Schroder, after which he will return home.
